In a hands-on demonstration that sometimes the AI cornerback hits the runner who is grappled from behind and pushes him forward for an additional yard. EA is just as EA typically does, marketing this Madden 23 coins improved gameplay in a glitzy and exciting package that comes with the box called FieldSense. But after experiencing Madden 23 for an hour, it’s more like an all-or-nothing game where my plays either earn me the opposition with a massive gain low-footed opponent or is spread out beyond the line of scrimmage and blown up for losing.
FieldSense, a new feature exclusive in the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of Madden NFL 23 it involves more than just running the ball. Quarterbacks will also have a brand new targeting system, which looked like a granular, intimidating system at first. However, I realized that it was simply providing a visual representation to something I was already doing — being my receiver’s leader, and throwing the ball ahead of or above him. If a player is able to key in an attempt to throw the ball in Madden NFL 23. they’ll find an ellipse in the field, representing the region in which the receiver could get a catch.
Players may then steer the reticle to the side or beyond the ellipse (depending on a toggle for gameplay) to block it from the defenders, or even set up an amazing, how-did-he-do-that-grab. If players wish to do so, there’s an additional menu toggle that adds a release meter above the head of the receiver. It’s a blue zone which means complete- that widens or narrows based on the quarterback’s attributes and the circumstances of the play (rolling out in a sloping motion, throwing across his body or across his body, etc.). This sounds like a lot to take in, but for many of the passes that come from the pocket, I didn’t need to mind the meter; however, if a scrambling thrower who has extended a play that is broken, the option is there to target any receiver if you’re good (or fortunate) enough.
In single-player games, Madden NFL 23 gives users a slowdown of bullet time to aid players in identifying passes as they become familiar with the system. But after a few throws I did not need it. One of the most beautiful examples of this new visual aid came from an event where I played the Los Angeles Chargers against their stadium owners that is, the Los Angeles Rams. Justin Herbert lofted a 12-yard square out to Keenan Allan that I intentionally did a long and high throw. It slipped through Jalen Ramsey’s left hand outstretched. Ramsey is, by all accounts, the best cornerback you can find in the NFL, and in nine out of 10 Madden games before this there was an interception.
The new technique is only one reason why the play ended well. It’s true that removing receivers as well as defensive backs from canned animations means Madden NFL 23’s AI pass defense will be used more to break up passes and deflects rather than interceptions.
