MANMADHUDU
Manmadhudu is a Telugu romantic comedy movie released in the year 2002, directed by K. Vijaya Bhaskar. The film stars Nagarjuna Akkineni and Sonali Bendre in lead roles and Brahmanandam in a supporting comic role. Brahmanandam in this movie plays as Suribabu Lavangam, who works in the Paris office of Revlon company. Brahmanandam is sent to receive Nagarjuna and Sonali Bendre, who visit Paris for a meeting from India. The main storyline has nothing to do with Brahmanandam’s role, but the significance of Brahmanandam’s parallel comedy line is extraordinary. The whole movie has so many humorous scenes including every actor but the scenes after Brahmanandam is introduced make your stomach hurt from laughing. Brahmanandam is introduced as an employee who’s been living in Paris for about 25 years which makes him know nothing about India’s development during those years. This turns out hilariously funny when he underestimates Nagarjuna and Sonali Bendre while doing the basic things as using an escalator in Paris. He often becomes a joke when underestimating them. During the escalator scene, he brags about using escalator’s in Paris and forgets getting off of it and trips, while Nagarjuna and Sonali Bendre effortlessly get off the escalator. There are many more scenes like this which make the audience burst into laughter. The most prominent scene of the movie is the chase scene, where Nagarjuna convinces Brahmanandam to steal running shoes from a store and sends the store owner and police after him, while managing to steal a dress for Sonali Bendre from the store. Later Brahmanandam escapes from the Police and reaches a coffee shop where Nagarjuna and Sonali Bendre are having coffee. Brahmanandam here is again fooled by Nagarjuna and Sonali Bendre when they both leave the place saying they’re going to use the restroom, leaving Brahmanandam with no money to pay the bill. This comedy scene from the movie is the most hilarious part of the film.
